Abstract

• In October 2018, Metro City experienced inflation of 0.22 percent due to an increase in the index from 138.39 in September 2018 to 138.69 in October 2018. Six expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation, namely the transportation, communication and financial services group amounting to 0.0836 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0.0697 percent; followed by processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.0487 percent; health group by 0.0222 percent; the clothing group was 0.0043 percent and the education, recreation and sports group was 0.0041 percent. In contrast, one expenditure group contributed to the formation of deflation, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.0145 percent.
• Some commodities that predominantly contribute to inflation include bloating, gasoline, household fuels, cucumbers, clove cigarettes, rice, potatoes, household servants' wages, filtered clove cigarettes and oranges.
• Metro City inflation ranked 37th, out of 82 cities observed in price developments, 66 CPI cities experienced inflation and 16 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Palu at 2.27 percent and the lowest inflation was experienced by Cilegon by 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Bengkulu at 0.74 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Tangerang by 0.01 percent.
• Metro City, in October 2018 based on the calculation of calendar year inflation (Point to Point) amounting to 1.09 percent and inflation year on year (YoY) amounted to 1.40 percent.
